Key Account Manager – Rare Diseases

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Key Account Manager specializing in Rare Diseases to join our team in Kazakhstan. This role is essential for establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs), charitable foundations, hospitals, and local health authorities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the rare disease landscape and the ability to drive strategic initiatives to support our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical and Scientific Engagement
  • Develop and maintain close professional relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), HCPs, and other healthcare stakeholders in the field of rare diseases.
  • Serve as the trusted medical expert on company products and disease areas, providing scientific support and education to healthcare professionals.
  • Deliver presentations and educational sessions on disease awareness, diagnostic approaches, and treatment options.
  • Participate at national and international scientific and medical conferences, symposia, and advisory boards.
  • Organize and coordinate medical education initiatives, including workshops, webinars, and congress participation.
  • Prepare and adapt local medical materials, slide decks, and presentations tailored to the needs of healthcare professionals and patient organizations.

Stakeholder and Patient Organization Collaboration

  • Act as the primary medical liaison with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs), ensuring collaboration on awareness, early diagnosis, and access to treatment.
  • Establish and manage relationships with patient organizations, charitable foundations, and healthcare institutions to drive patient support and access to treatment.
  • Lead and provide medical oversight for patient support programs and early diagnostic initiatives, ensuring alignment with company strategy and ethical standards.

Cross-functional and Institutional Collaboration

  • Work closely with hospitals, laboratories, and diagnostic centers to facilitate product access and implementation of diagnostic pathways.
  • Collaborate with local health authorities and institutions to ensure compliance with medical and regulatory standards.
  • Support cross-functional teams (marketing, regulatory, access) with medical insights and evidence-based information.

Scientific Intelligence and Strategy

  • Continuously monitor new scientific data, clinical studies, and policy developments in the rare disease field.
  • Collect, analyze, and share medical insights from external stakeholders to inform strategic decisions and optimize patient care approaches.
  • Contribute to the development of local medical strategies, publications, and communication materials. 



Qualifications:

  • University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Biology, or other Life Sciences; advanced scientific qualification (MD, PhD, PharmD) preferred.
  • Experience in medical affairs, scientific liaison, or KOL management within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Strong understanding of the rare disease landscape and related medical, diagnostic, and therapeutic challenges.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver high-quality medical content (presentations, training materials, scientific publications).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex science into clear messages.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects, meetings, and events simultaneously.
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and adaptable to a dynamic, cross-functional work environment.
  • Fluency in Kazakh and/or Russian required; professional English proficiency essential.
  • Willingness to travel frequently.
